Robert E. “Bobby” Clements, 76, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at Irwin County Hospital in Ocilla, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Frank Primitive Baptist Church in Irwin County, Georgia, with Elder Chad O’Quinn and the Rev. Ronny Griner officiating. Interment will follow in Luke Cemetery, Irwin County. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Friday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Clements was born June 24, 1949, in Nashville, Tennessee, to the late James Robert & Juanita Luke Clements. He was a 1968 graduate of Dublin High School and served his country honorably in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He served as a Corpsman and was part of an at-sea rescue on the USS James E. Keyes. He began his love of sports at an early age playing little league and pee-wee sports. He played baseball and football in high school and later played church league softball. Mr. Clements was a detective for the Fitzgerald Police Department, owned and operated R.E. Clements Logging for many years and retired as a fork-lift operator for Gilman Paper Company. He was an avid outdoorsman and woodworker who enjoyed hunting and crafting and repairing furniture. He was also a dedicated and devoted Auburn fan, although no one else in his family understood why. He attended Frank Primitive Baptist Church and proudly hosted an outdoor Easter sunrise service at his home at the beginning of the COVID pandemic.
He is survived by his wife, Mokana Phillips Royal Clements of Ocilla; children: Jennifer Grantham of Roanoke, Alabama, Robert E. “Robby” Clements, Jr. & Tara of Ocilla, and Tim & Angela Clements of Mystic; grandchildren: Hannah Eldridge, Madison Grantham, Lauris Grantham, Bryce Clements, Emma Grace Clements, and Kylie Clements; great-grandchildren: Emersyn Doughman and Alani Grantham; step-children: Chris Kilbury of Ocilla, Billie Jo & Mark Abney of Tifton, and Erston & Scarlett Royal of Ocilla; step-grandchildren: Katelyn & Junior Esparza, Kandace & Steven Pughsley, Kai Kilbury, Skye Royal, Trace Royal, Ella Abney, and Bailey Abney; step-great-grandchildren: Eli Pughsley, Zeke Pughsley, M.J. Pughsley, O.B. Pughsley, Tripp Esparza and Reyna Esparza; and a sister, Linda Faye & Jimmy Shealey of Fitzgerald. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Karen Pearce Clements; and a brother, David Larry Clements.
