Charles F. “Chuck” Fochler, 84 of Coolridge Avenue, Greenville, a retired truck driver for General Electric, Providence, died Saturday at Roger Williams Medical Center. He was the husband of Eileen (Marco) Fochler. They were married for 60 years.
Born in Altoona, PA, the son of the late William & Bertha (Rumberger) Fochler, he had been a resident of Greenville for 35 years. He had worked for General Electric, Providence Baseworks for 40 years before retiring.
He was a WWII Navy Veteran, serving in the Pacific Theatre, and a charter member of the Smithfield Sr. Center. He enjoyed skiing, camping, dancing, and golfing. In later years he was an avid card and bocce player.
Besides his wife he is survived by son, Kevin C. Fochler of Greenville, daughter, Karaan A. Higgins and her husband Timothy, of Montclair, NJ, four grandchildren; Graham and Caitlyn Higgins and Charles and Matthew Fochler, a great granddaughter, Claire Higgins-Hart, sisters, Rose Snyder, Mary Sonefelt, Marjorie Laird, Patricia Shellenberger and Adelaide Fochler. Brother of the late Helen McGregor, Marion , Paul, Joseph, Donald and Clair Fochler.
His funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11am in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Rt 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Burial in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. Visitation Tuesday 4-7pm.
