Carolyn “Connie” M. (Bartsch) Hinves, 89, of Westport Point, passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Charlton Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late John R. Hinves, with whom she shared 56 wonderful years of marriage.
Connie was born in Fall River, daughter of the late George and Mildred (Bradbury) Bartsch. She often talked fondly of her years growing up in the Oak Grove neighborhood and attending Dubuque Elementary School and BMC Durfee High School. After graduating in 1954, Connie entered the workforce in the business office of the former Auerbach Bathrobe Company in Fall River.
She was known to be a whiz with numbers and spent 15 fulfilling years working with the business. She left employment for her most cherished role of raising her son, John, and being a loving mom and creating a warm and loving home.
Connie was committed to her faith community at Union United Methodist Church in Fall River. She was very active in Faith Circle and could be found with a warm smile helping with Lobster Roll sales and running the jewelry table at the annual Bazaars. She was quick to reach out and assist those among us who need a helping hand. She will be remembered for her generosity, kindness, and love for family and friends.
Connie spent many years as a Somerset resident but always treasured her time spent with her husband in Westport Point.
Connie leaves her son, John B. Hinves, and his wife Pam of Somerset and her 2 grandchildren, Matthew and Katherine. They were the light of her life. She also leaves her beloved nephew, Stephen, and his wife Darcy of Wilton, NH and several grand-nephews and a grand-niece, whom she thought the world of.
She was the sister of the late George L. Bartsch and his wife, Maril, and their late son, Eric, and his widow Lynne.
Services are private at her request. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Union United Methodist Church at 600 Highland Avenue, Fall River, MA 02720.
