Stephen A. Gallagher, 65, of Franklin, died peacefully at home on Friday, August 22, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Julie (Sheppard) Gallagher for the past 38 years.
Born in Boston on November 30, 1959, he was the son of the late Thomas and Barbara (Kirvan) Gallagher.
Steve was a resident of Franklin since 1990. He grew up in Norwood and graduated from Norwood High School in 1978.
Before his retirement, Steve worked as a machinist for the MBTA for seven years and had previously worked at Dynisco for 36 years. He was a proud member of Local Union #264 for 43 years.
Steve was an avid fisherman and loved all the Boston sports teams, especially the Red Sox, but most of all loved spending time on his deck with family.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Andrew Gallagher and his longtime partner Johanna McCusker, Alicia Gallagher, and Dominique Saulnier, all of Franklin.
He is also survived by three sisters, Susan Todd of Mattapoisett, Barbara Wayshville of Onset, and Maureen Collins of Franklin, one brother Thomas Gallagher of Norwood, and several nieces and nephews.
Steve also leaves behind his beloved grand-puppies Rolo and Mars.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Mass on Wednesday, August 27 at St. Mary’s Church in Franklin at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at the parish cemetery.
