Jerry L. Harpin, 80

Jerry L. Harpin, age 80, recently of Mansfield, a former longtime resident of Attleboro, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 22, 2025 at the Blue Hills Health & Rehabilitation Center in Stoughton. He was the beloved husband of Bette A. (Inglese) Harpin, to whom he was wed for fifty-six years.
Born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island on September 4, 1944, he was a loving son of the late Maurice L., Sr. and Dorothy D. (Cauthorn) Harpin.
As a boy, Jerry grew up in the town of Blackstone and was a graduate of Mount Saint Charles Academy in Woonsocket. He continued his education, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University.
A Mechanical Engineer by trade, Jerry had worked for seventeen years in the insurance industry at FM Global in Norwood. His job involved conducting audits and extensive traveling trips for company business. A resident of Mansfield for the past two years, Jerry had previously made his home in Attleboro for forty-five years.
Jerry’s family, whom he loved wholeheartedly, was the focal point of his life and being of French heritage, was overwhelmed with happiness the first time he was called “Pepere”. He was a member of the Millerville Club in Blackstone and in accordance with his love of the great outdoors, was a member of the Wrentham Sportsman’s Club and enjoyed bow and rifle hunting and fishing.
Another favorite and special occasion for Jerry were family times spent in beautiful Maine and the lifelong memories created, along with his treasured family, of canoeing trips and camping out under the stars. Jerry also had a fondness for auto racing and watching his car race and serving as its mechanic at Seekonk Speedway.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his devoted daughters, Dannine M. Amaral and her husband Robert of North Attleboro and Tracy R. Harpin of Mansfield. He was the cherished and proud Pepere of Jack Carifa, Benjamin Carifa, Nathan Amaral and Olivia Amaral. He was the dear brother of Maurice Harpin, Jr. of Millville, Lawrence Harpin and his wife Nancy of Las Vegas, Nevada, Christine Wilson of Midwest City, Oklahoma, Lynn McCarte and her husband Kenneth of Bellingham and Marc Harpin and his wife Rebecca of Millville. He was the much-loved brother-in-law of Albert Inglese and his wife Claudia of North Attleboro, Christine Inglese of Mansfield, Sophie Inglese of Mansfield, Dianne Oldmixon and her husband Bruce of Mansfield and the late Linda Inglese. He is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews, as well as his treasured longtime friends Peter & Joan Crotty of Mansfield and Lenny D’Angelo of Norfolk.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, August 28th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.
