Obituary

Katherine “Kathy” Anne Buckley, age 65, of Meredith, NH, passed away peacefully on Monday, August, 18, 2025, at the Granite VNA Hospice House in Concord after a courageous two-year battle with cancer.

Born on August 25, 1959, she was the daughter of Robert Buckley and Jeannette (Gaudet) Buckley. She was raised in Meredith and was a 1977 graduate of Inter-Lakes High School. She worked at Lewis and Saunders in Laconia and celebrated 20 years of service at the Bank of New Hampshire in 2024, retiring from there in April.

Kathy enjoyed swimming, photography, painting, and murder mystery parties. She spent many summers, both as a child and as an adult, enjoying the Gaudet Family camp on Pickerel Pond. Her greatest achievement was helping her mother write her memoir, filled with stories of growing up on the family farm on Pickerel Pond. Kathy loved travel; she visited Africa twice, where she walked with elephants and slept in a tree house. She visited the pyramids in Egypt and went skydiving in South Carolina. She dipped her toes in Loch Ness in Scotland, though she never saw the famed sea monster. Another highlight was visiting 221B Baker Street in London to see the Sherlock Holmes Museum. Kathy also loved the ocean and took annual trips to Wells Beach.

Kathy was beloved for her distinct and infectious laugh and her passion for adventure and holidays—especially Halloween. She won the inaugural Greater Meredith Program Halloween yard decorating contest in 2006. Predeceased by her father, she is survived by her mother, Jeannette Buckley, who is grateful for the companionship and care Kathy provided over the years; sister Sue Burrows (Jere); brother David Buckley (Kelly); her nieces Jessica Heald (Darrin) and Alicia Burrows (Allie); nephew Nat Burrows; and nine great-nieces and nephews (Nathaniel, Charlotte, Gabriel, Samuel, Abigail, Eloise, Theia, Penn, and Sophie) as well as treasured friends and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Her nieces and nephew and their children brought her great joy, and she was a tremendously fun aunt in return.

Kathy’s wish is that everyone spreads a little kindness in the world and that donations in her memory be made to Granite VNA Hospice House, 30 Pillsbury St., Concord, NH 03301 as she was so thankful for the compassionate care she received there in her final days.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated, at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 300 NH Rte 25, Meredith at 11:00am on Friday, September 5, 2025. A Calling Hour will be held at 10:00am, prior to the Mass.

Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery at a later date.
