Obituary

M.J. Paulk, 97, of Irwin County, Georgia, died Thursday, August 21, 2025 at Magnolia Personal Care Home, in Ocilla, Georgia.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Thursday, August 28, 2025, at the Spring Hill Primitive Baptist Church in Irwin County, Georgia, with Elder Marvin Paulk officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services in the church sanctuary. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Paulk was born October 11, 1927, in Douglas, Georgia, to the late George and Janie Vickers Paulk. Mr. Paulk served in the United States Air Force and was a farmer. After retiring, he spent summers in the mountains and winters in Florida fishing. Mr. Paulk enjoyed camping alongside of his wife until her passing in 2005. He was a lifelong member and song leader at Spring Hill Primitive Baptist Church and enjoyed singing in the Paulk Family Quartet.

He is survived by two sons: Elder Marvin Paulk of Alapaha and Billy & Gina Paulk of Ocilla; grandchildren: Melinda Purvis of Brookfield, Channing & Quentin Dixon of Alapaha, Clint & Maebry Paulk of Ocilla and Clay & Rebecca Paulk of Ocilla; great-grandchildren: Lexi Paulk, Levi Paulk, Jayden Purvis, Alexis Purvis, Mason Dixon, Callie Mae Dixon, Dylan Dixon, McCoy Paulk, Cutler Paulk and Clark Paulk. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jackie D. Paulk; daughter-in-law, Brenda Jean Paulk; a grandson, Markus Paulk; and brothers: Quinton Paulk, Leonard Paulk, Micajah Paulk, Cliff Paulk and Felton Paulk.
