
Alfonso “Al” Chiaradonna
December 19, 1955 – May 7, 2025
Alfonso “Al” Chiaradonna departed this life for his eternal home in Heaven on 7 May 2025. He was born in Lynn, Massachusetts (1955) where he grew up, went to school, and worked his entire career. Al was the son of loving parents, the late Anthony Chiaradonna, US Navy Veteran and a Reservist in the US Navy Seabees, and his wife, Belbina “Betty” (Melnik) Chiaradonna.
Al is survived by his eldest brother, Anthony Chiaradonna Jr., (Catherine); his sister Betty (Chiaradonna) Stenstrom, (William); and his youngest brother, James “Jimmy” Chiaradonna, (Cheryl). His sister, Jeannie Chiaradonna, predeceased her siblings in 1955 and was referred to as “Our Little Darling” where she is laid to rest in Lynn. Moreover, Al was blessed to have caring grandparents, as well as, many warm-hearted aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many close friends. Al touched the lives of countless people whose paths he crossed along his journey.
Al’s greatest love was his faith in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and he was grounded in the congregation at Holy Family Church in Lynn. Among many of his other passions were his love of country, family, the study of American and World history, along with his superlative legacy as an athlete in a wide range of competitive sports. Al remained an avid sports fan and a sports legend.
In his youth, Al was a tremendous athlete with an unparalleled record. He was a 4-Letterman having earned his varsity letters for four consecutive years in high school. He exemplified endurance, competition, team spirit among his countless successes. Aside from baseball, football, basketball and track, he later played 10 years in the adult Lynn Park Softball League team where he continued to shine. Al’s legacy lives-on in all who knew him and in the many newspapers clippings still proudly displayed by his family.
Al was a gallant graduate of Lynn English High School (1975). Al immediately embarked on a lifelong career as a general contractor in the family masonry business. He was mostly trained by his father and eldest brother. General Masons proudly recognized Al, who was a phenomenal asset to his co-workers. Al had unsurpassed skill in crafting stone structures. He also had impeccable talent as a brick mason. Al excelled in many high-profile specialties with an artistic flair and meticulous expertise seldom matched in the construction profession. Al’s prolific masonry style and artwork will withstand generations to come.
Al should forever be remembered for his compassion, his spirited sense of humor, his enthusiastic pleasure when sharing delicious meals with loved ones, and his heartfelt love and respect for his family. We all miss Al every day. He’ll live in our hearts forever. RIP dear Al!
