Obituary

Antonio M. Oliveira, age 78, a resident of Tewksbury for 46 years, passed away at the Boston Medical Center on Sunday, August 17, 2025, following an extended illness.

He was the beloved husband of Margaret A. (McDonough) Oliveira, with whom he celebrated 58 years of marriage.

Born in Ilhavo, Portugal on September 24, 1946, he was the son of the late Antonio R. Oliveira and the late Emilia (Valente) Oliveira.

In his late teens, Tony was employed as a deckhand on the Portuguese commercial fishing boat, Santa Isabel. Fishing for cod in the North Atlantic, they would make port calls in Greenland and St. John’s, Newfoundland where he ultimately met his wife, Margaret.

Upon immigrating to the United States in 1967, Tony began his career in construction at Circle Floors, Inc. and retired as a supervisor from Apollo Floors, Inc. in 1991. Tony was a proud member of the Carpenters’ Local Union 2168 Boston.

Tony took pleasure in his annual visits to Portugal. He always looked forward to spending time with his longtime friends and family. He particularly found joy spending hours fishing on his boat “Lucky Lady” and riding his multiple motorcycles.

Tony will be remembered for his fierce dedication to his family and friends and will be deeply missed.

In addition to his wife Margaret, he is survived by his two children, Paul A. Oliveira and his wife Kristina, of Tewksbury and Renee M. Oliveira and her partner, Derrick L. Morin, of Salem, MA: his two grandchildren, Alex and Nicole Oliveira: his sister, Maria Aurora Solha and her late husband Joao Mario Solha.
He leaves many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Family and friends will be received on August 25, 2025 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury, followed by a procession to St. William’s Church, 1351 Main Street, Route 38, Tewksbury, where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m.
