Our family is deeply saddened to announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Mr. Peter A. Chavez, 48, of Lawrence passed away on August 11, 2025, at Lawrence General Hospital.
The son of the late Rafael and MaryAnn (Mailhot) Chavez, he was born in Lawrence on September 29, 1976 and had been a local resident all of his life. Peter attended Greater Lawrence Technical High School. He enjoyed playing and watching baseball, he loved watching the Lowell Spinners and his all time favorite was the Boston Red Sox. Peter enjoyed writing lyrics to songs and singing with his daughter. He loved to spend time with his family.
Along with his parents, Peter was also pre-deceased by his brothers Edward Smith and Patrick Smith.
He is survived by his long time life partner Virginia Waldie of Lawrence MA., one daughter; Dawnisha A. Chavez of Lawrence MA., one sister Theresa Smith of San Francisco, CA., one brother David Smith and his wife Paula Smith of Salem, NH. And several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Remembrance of Life and Mercy Meal on Saturday September 27th. 2025 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. More information such as location will be announced to people
