ATLANTA, GA – Mary Anne (Stevens) Shamatta, 74, of Atlanta, Georgia, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, August 17, 2025, surrounded by her family and strengthened by the sacraments of the Holy Catholic Church. Born on March 7, 1951 in Springfield, Massachusetts, Mary Anne was the beloved daughter of Raymond and Evelyn (Nassar) Stevens. She lived a life guided by faith, service and devotion to her family. A devoted parishioner of St. Joseph Maronite Catholic Church in Atlanta, Mary Anne faithfully served in the Ladies’ Altar Society for more than 40 years and as head of the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD) program for over 18 years. She found deep comfort in prayer, the Eucharist and the promise of everlasting life in Christ. Mary Anne is survived by her husband of over 50 years, Elias J. "Louie" Shamatta; her four children, Steven, Peter, Joseph and Michaele Shamatta; her five cherished grandchildren; and her three brothers, Joseph, Paul, and Raymond. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Evelyn Stevens; and her three brothers, Louis, Mark, and Michael Stevens. Her family will receive friends on Sunday, August 24, 2025 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107. Her family will also receive friends (please meet directly at Church) on Monday, August 25, 2025 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at Saint Anthony Maronite Catholic Church, 375 Island Pond Road, Springfield, MA 01118. Her Burial will follow the Mass at Saint Michael Cemetery, 1601 State Street, Springfield, MA 01109.
