Ladonna Jean (Basicker) Vandergrift
October 28, 1937- August 15, 2025

Ladonna Jean (Basicker) Vandergrift, 87, of Anderson passed away on Friday, August 15, 2025 at Northview Community Healthcare surrounded by loved ones as she went into the loving arms of Jesus Christ.

Ladonna was born on October 28, 1937 in Anderson, Indiana to Ross and Esther (Barrett) Basicker.

She was a Canteen cashier at Delco Remy and worked at Valley Grove Elementary School in the cafeteria for many years.

She was a long time member at First Baptist Church in Anderson, Indiana. She was a past Worthy Matron at Daleville Eastern Star #568. She was also a long time member of the Madison County Ladies Shrine Club.

She is survived by her three children, Karen (Alan) Hoopingarner, Neal Vandergrift, and Mark (Beth) Vandergrift all of Anderson; 10 grandchildren, Leslie (Brad) Conner, Lindsey (Brian) Burris, Ryan (Samantha) Hoopingarner, Carrie Vandever, Tami (Shawn) Swearingen, Jason Vandergrift, Chris (Julie) Vandergrift, Stacey (Eric) Holtzleiter, Christy (Eric) Bevans, and Benton Vandergrift; 23 great-grandchildren, Kadence, Kage, Kaylynn, Emmah, Gwendolyn, Zayne, Noah, Carter, Audrina, Owen, James, Rose, Joshuah, Sarah, Maddy, Mason, Marlie, Morgan, Erika, Callie, Blaine, Cambrie, and Blayklie; a sister, Lucinda (David) Sparks, a sister-in-law, Donna Vandergrift; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ross and Esther Basicker; her husband, James Edward “Vandy” Vandergrift in 2011; daughter-in-law, Brenda Vandergrift; grandson, Tony Vandever; sister, Leona Redmon; brother, John Basicker; In-laws, George and Goldie Vandergrift; and several brother and sisters-in-laws.

Funeral service will be at 1:00pm on Monday, August 25, 2025 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Ned Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11:00am – 1:00pm on Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Madison County Shrine Club.
