Robert "Bob" Brooks, 86 beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother passed away peacefully on August 14th at the German Center where he was being cared for Parkinson's Dementia. Bob was born on June 8, 1939 in Jamaica Plain MA. He attended Jamaica Plain High School, graduating in 1957. He was an exceptional athlete, excelling at both baseball and track. He was also a First Lieutenant in the National Guard during high school years. Bob married Carol (Conroy) on October 22, 1960. The lived in Jamaica Plain and later moved to West Roxbury where they raised their family. He was a devoted family man. Family always came first for Bob. He was involved in all his children's sports, coaching his son's Parkway Little League Baseball and Parkway Youth Hockey. He also coached his daughter's women's softball teams. He faithfully attended all his grandchildren's sports events too. To know him was to love him! His home was always open to all and often the site for many fun gatherings. Game nights, happy hours, family softball games and so many other themed events. Together with Carol, they brought the fun to all around them. The spent their Summers in Duxbury surrounded by wonderful family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; their children, Dawn Brundage, husband Fred of Milton and Lance Brooks, wife Joann of Walpole; and his 7 grandchildren, Brooke Brundage, David Brundage, Kailey Allen, Garrett Allen, Paige Brooks, Livia Brooks and Patrick Brooks. He is also survived by his brother John Brooks of Saugus, MA. He is pre-deceased by his beloved daughter Denise Brooks Allen (2015).
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to visit in the William J. Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre St West Roxbury, on Friday Morning, August 22nd from 9:00am to 11:00am, followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated at St. Theresa of Avila Church, 2078 Centre St., West Roxbury at 11:30am. Interment will be held privately. Memorial donations may be made to the German Centre of West Roxbury.
