CONCORD ---- Nathan ‘Nate the Great’ Cyr, 91, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at the Granite VNA Hospice House in Concord, NH with his loving wife Karen (Kenney) Cyr by his side.
He was born in Cyr Plantation, ME in 1934 and was the oldest son to Rene and Wilenna (Chamberlain) Cyr, whose marriage produced Nate and 13 other siblings.
Nate grew up on a potato farm in Aroostook County, ME and graduated from Van Buren High School in 1951. He honed his fighting spirit as an amateur boxer in his youth and claimed to be “undefeated”. As a young man he enlisted in the US Army shortly after graduation. While in the Army, he was proud to have been named “Soldier of the Month”.
After fulfilling his service obligation - which took him to Korea, he returned home and married Phyllis (Sirois). They moved to NH where they raised their two sons Jonathan and David. Nate had a successful career in sales and sales management predominantly in the Telecom Industry. Nate was entrepreneurial in nature and was involved in the infancy stages of several companies along the way. He was a staunch advocate for the power of positive thinking.
Several years after his beloved Phyllis passed in 1992, he was lucky enough to meet, fall in love with and marry Karen (Kenney) in 2005. He and Karen lived in Chichester and Epsom before finally settling in Concord.
Nate enjoyed being Pepere to his five grandchildren and was so thankful for spending some time with his great-grandchildren this past July 4.
In addition to his sons and his wife, Nate is survived by six siblings, his five grandchildren and his five great-grandchildren.
Private Services and a Celebration of Life for Nate will be held at a future date.
