BELLINGHAM, MA ---- Asher ‘AJ’ Mahoney, 16, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 4, 2025.
AJ was born on October 21, 2008, the son of John and Rebecca Mahoney, who adopted him in 2019 from Spokane, WA.
He was about to start his junior year in Automotive Technology at Blackstone Valley Tech. He enjoyed spending his time doing hands on projects; having just finished rebuilding his dirt bike. He was learning to play the guitar, loved video games, camping and spending time with his friends and family.
AJ enjoyed learning about WWII history and collecting memorabilia. He was looking forward to restoring an early 80’s Chevy pickup truck and had a love for older cars.
AJ was a kind and loving soul who touched the lives of all who knew him. He faced his own personal battles with courage, though, like many, he struggled with the challenges of mental health. Mental illness affects millions, and AJ’s journey reminds us of the importance of compassion, understanding and seeking help when needed.
AJ is survived by his parents John and Rebecca Mahoney, brothers Colin and Preston Mahoney, paternal grandmother Marilyn Mahoney, maternal grandparents Steve and Diana Connors, many aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, 11:00am, at the First Baptist Church, 39 Mechanic Street, Bellingham, MA 02019.
