FRYEBURG- Scott D. Whitaker, born October 23, 1959, to Ed and Sally Whitaker of Fryeburg, ME, passed away August 11th. After graduating Fryeburg Academy (‘78) as an accomplished athlete (football and wrestling), Scott served four years in the U.S. Air Force K9 police, with one year being in Turkey.
After his honorable discharge, he became a licensed electrician and furnace technician with B&L Oil. Scott loved ice climbing, hunting, fishing, and swimming. He is survived by his children, Adam and Kate; granddaughter, Addison; mother, Sally; brothers, Chris (Mary) and Bruce (Shirley); and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Scott is now reunited with his father, Ed; his wife, Veronica; and all the loved ones who went before him.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Andwell Hospice Care and the Maine Veterans’ Home of South Paris for the compassion, kindness, and dignity they showed Scott in his final days.
A celebration of Scott’s life will be held on Sunday, August 17th at 1pm at the American Legion on Bradley Street in Fryeburg, ME. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pequawket Valley Health Initiative or the Maine Veterans’ Home in South Paris, in honor of Scott’s memory.
