Obituary

Dorothy A. Conlon, 85, of Whitman, died peacefully at home on Saturday, August 9, 2025. She was the loving wife of the late M. Edward Conlon for 47 years, living in Whitman since 1961. She was born in Boston, MA, daughter of the late Joan Craig.

She attended Hanson schools and graduated from Whitman High School in 1957. She worked for 24 years in the Whitman/Hanson School District as a Manager-Cook at the Regal-Duval School, retiring in 2002. She later worked at The Cardinal Cushing/St. Colletta School in Hanover as a Substitute Teacher Assistant. She most enjoyed spending time with her family and working in her yard.

She was a life member of the Whitman Mothers Club, a communicant of Holy Ghost Church, a member of the Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality, and the Cunniff Pine Street Inn Group. She was also a member and past president of the Whitman Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary. For several years she was active in the Relay for Life of Abington. After retirement, she spent many hours volunteering at the Whitman Food Pantry.

She was the loving mother of Rita M. Bradley of Costa Mesa, CA, the late Mark E. Conlon and wife Patty of Pittsburgh, PA and the late Michael J. Conlon and wife Jennifer of Wareham, MA, as well as grandchildren Liz Bradley and Susanna McPeak, Zachary, Meghan, and Nathan Conlon, and great-grandchildren, Ivy Jo and Lucy McPeak. She was also the loving sister of John W. DiGregorio of Rockland, MA, Jean M. Cradock of South Carolina, Sharon Shuey of Illinois and Sandra Umphress of Florida. She was predeceased by siblings Jean Josslyn, Jan, James and Jack Craig and grandmother Phyllis Craig. She was loved by several nieces and nephews.

She was lovingly cared for by her devoted partner, Dennis Sullivan, her niece Mari and husband Jeffry Landreville through her courageous battle with cancer.

Family and friends are invited to attend Dorothy’s visiting hours from 4:00-7:00 PM on Friday, August 15th at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. All are welcome to join in procession on Saturday, August 16th at 9:45 AM at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM at the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. A burial will follow the funeral Mass at the St. James Cemetery, Whitman.
