Obituary



Worcester – Yvette R. (Desilets) Plante, 97, of Worcester passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2025 at Rose Monahan Hospice/VNA Care.

Mrs. Plante was married for 54 years to the love of her life, Cyril G. “Cookie” Plante Jr. who died in 2005. She is survived by her four children, Susan C. McCarthy of Cherry Valley, MA, Joanne M. Gribbons and her husband James Sr. of Auburn, MA, Major (Ret.) Denise P. Kleister and her husband, Kevin of Poccaset, MA and Ronald C. Plante and his husband, Daniel Hammond of Provincetown, MA; a sister, Claire Fontaine and her husband, Gerald of Texas; 8 grandchildren: Kate (McCarthy) Brandt, Kim (McCarthy) Loffredo, Erin (Gribbons) Rosenthal, Nicole (Gribbons) Prisby, James Gribbons, Jr., Andrew Gribbons, Kelly (Kleister) Champagne and Brian Kleister; 20 great grandchildren: Cooper and Noah Brandt, Emily, Daniel and Annabelle Loffredo, Elsie, Sadie, Stella, Hazel and Henry Rosenthal, Madison, Jackson and Aiden Prisby, Brixton and Colson Gribbons, Harper and Charlie Gribbons, and Althea, Jacob and Liam Champagne, and many nieces and nephews.

Yvette was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Wilfrid J. Desilets Sr. and Eva (Comeau) Desilets. She is also predeceased by a grandson, Todd Gribbons; a brother, Wilfrid J. Desilets Jr. and five sisters- Jeanne Spear, Lillian Dupuis, Gertrude Moore, Therese Auger, and Lorraine Charest.

Yvette was in the first graduating class from the former Holy Name High School and always remained active at Holy Name High for many years in the Alumni Association. She was a longtime member of the Worcester Auburn Emblem Club, Our Lady of the Angels Church and a former member of Holy Name of Jesus Church until its closing in 2008.

Yvette volunteered in several capacities for many years at the former Holy Name of Jesus Church and developed many lifelong friendships. She loved to be around others and always welcomed everyone in her home with open arms. Family was always a priority to Yvette, the 54 year marriage that she shared with her husband set a foundation for her family to grow, love and respect one another.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025 from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church 1222 Main St., Worcester. Burial will immediately follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. Calling Hours will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorial contributions in memory of Yvette may be made to Rose Monahan Hospice/VNA Care vnacare.org.

The family would like to thank the staff at Goddard House & Homestead Hall for their assistance and care over the past 3 years, the 24 North & 35 North nurses and staff at St. Vincent’s Hospital for their care and compassion, and the staff at Rose Monahan Hospice for their care in Yvette’s final days.
