Roger S. Gefis, age 81, a lifelong resident of Norton, passed away comfortably, with his loving family by his side on Sunday, August 10, 2025 at Regal Care of Taunton.
Born in Norton, MA on February 29, 1944, he was a loving son of the late Stanley and Gertrude M. (Shaw) Gefis.
Roger grew up and was educated in Norton. For many years, he had been employed as a cement truck driver for the Cardi Corporation and following retirement, drove school buses for the Town of Norton. He was a member of the Teamster’s Union, the Lake Winnecunnet Association and a former volunteer firefighter for the Town of Norton.
Roger’s favorite times were those spent amongst family and friends, especially with his cherished nieces and nephews. Roger was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and loved taking to the road on his prized Harley Davidson. He had a passion in his heart for animals, cats being his favorite and enjoyed helping others as a blood donor for many years.
He was the dear brother of Joan G. Gwozdz of Taunton and her late husband Frank, Judy A. Simons of Mansfield and her late husband Gordon, Linda F. Gefis of Taunton and Deborah L. Hutchinson of Florida. He is also survived by his many loving nieces and nephews.
His funeral service, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Thursday, August 14th at 12:00 Noon at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp Street (Off Route 140, Taunton Avenue) Norton. Burial will follow at the Timothy Plain Cemetery in Norton.
Visitation will be held prior to the services on Thursday morning beginning at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home.
