Bruce E. Powell, 52, died at his home on Saturday, August 19. He was the son of the late William S. and Alice S. (Anderson) Powell. Born in Brockton, he was raised in Stoughton and a graduate of Stoughton High School. An accomplished athlete, Mr. Powell was a 3 sport athlete at Stoughton High and Captain of the Football Team. He also attended Aquinas College in Michigan and UMass Dartmouth. He worked as a Councilor for the City of Fall River for over 10 years. He also worked as a handyman and carpenter. An avid sports fan, in his free time he enjoyed watching the Red Sox and woodworking.
Mr. Powell is survived by his siblings: William S. Powell of Sandwich, Kent A. Powell of Marstons Mills and Amanda Galanis of Stoughton. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Prayers will be offered in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Saturday Evening at 6 PM. Visiting Hours prior to prayers from 3-6 PM. Donations in Bruce’s name may be made to Old Colony Hospice, 1 Credit Union Way, Randolph, MA 02368. Burial will be private.
