Gerald E. “Gerry” McCormack, age 83, a longtime resident of Tewksbury, passed away in Chelmsford at Sunny Acres Nursing Rehabilitation Center on Wednesday, July 30, 2025.
Born in Lowell on July 21, 1942, he was the son of the late John F. McCormack, Sr. and the late Edith (Marion) McCormack.
Gerry was raised in Tewksbury, attended Tewksbury schools and graduated from Tewksbury High School in 1961. During his high school years, he was an accomplished student-athlete and a member of the Tewksbury Redmen Football team.
Prior to his retirement, he enlisted in the Army reserves as a medic, he worked for many years as a self-employed master plumber. In addition, he previously worked for Suburban Heating & Plumbing of Tewksbury, Inc. as well as for his brother, the late John F. McCormack, Jr.
He was known around town as the guy with the custom-built hot rod with the red top which he absolutely loved and was so proud of. He was always working on cars or in some garage, and loved NASCAR and the Patriots, especially Tom Brady.
Gerry is survived by his three children, Heidi M. Valdez, of CA, Richard McCormack and Russell McCormack, both of FL: his sister, Meredith L. Cohen, and her late husband David Cohen, of Tewksbury and uncle to Paul Cohen along with his children Kit, Brandan and Isaac: among many other nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Gerry was the former husband of the late Pamela J. (Nelson) Bathurst, brother of the late Janet A. Cluff and her late husband Richard E. Cluff, Sr., and of the late John F. McCormack, Jr. and his late wife Carole (Collins) McCormack, and uncle of the late Daniel T. Cluff, Sr, and his surviving wife Nancy (Tremblay) Cluff and children Kerri, Scott and Judy, and Daniel Jr., the late Richard “Earl” Cluff, Jr., and the late Neal L. Cluff and Meaghan Ellis
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, August 13th, from 4-7 p.m. with a prayer service starting at 7 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury. Interment of his ashes will be held later in the family lot at St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford.
