Obituary

Richard “Barney” Barnet, “The Man, the Myth the Legend”, passed away peacefully at the age of 81.

Born and raised in Jamaica Plain, he later made his home in Dedham. Barney was predeceased by his beloved parents and is survived by countless friends and loved ones whose lives he touched in unforgettable ways.

He lived much of his life in the public eye as a DJ and entertainer, bringing music, laughter and joy to any room he entered. Offstage, he pursued his passion for electronics, working for Sony and Sears as a talented electronics and TV repair technician.

Barney had a gift for leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met. Whether he was spinning records, mixing drinks, fixing a television, or pulling one of his famous pranks, he brought humor, energy and kindness to every interaction. He was a player in the best sense of the word - playing music, playing bartender, playing jokes and playing the role of a true, one-of-a-kind friend.

He leaves behind a community of people who will remember his quick wit, his generous spirit and the countless stories he inspired.
May Barney rest in eternal peace, knowing he made the world brighter, louder, and a whole lot more fun.
