Mark Bagus, 60, passed away on Sunday August 3rd surrounded by his family.
He was the son of Adam Bagus and the late Irene (Levicki) Bagus. He had lived in Warwick previously living in Greenville.
Mark had graduated from Smithfield High School and Rhode Island College. Mark was a proud veteran and lifelong public servant. He served in the RI National Guard with dedication and honor and built a full-time civilian career working for the Rhode Island Army National Guard—a role that became one of the most meaningful and enduring parts of his life. The many friendships he built through his service, and the support shown by his Guard community in difficult times, spoke volumes about the deep respect others had for him.
He found joy in life’s simple pleasures: bowling, good food, music, and the family football pool, where he teamed up with his father and engaged in a season-long rivalry with his siblings. He was a quiet, steady presence—the kind of person who showed up without fanfare, but always with loyalty.
Mark was also a devoted caregiver to family, offering steady support and quiet acts of kindness in times of need.
He will be remembered for his dry wit, his resilience, and the subtle but powerful ways he showed care for others.
Mark will be sorely missed by his father, Adam Bagus of Greenville; his siblings, Jean Fraize (and husband Douglas) of Lincoln and David Bagus of Greenville; and his beloved nieces and nephew, Sydney Bagus, Carly, and Ryan Fraize.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday August 12th at 11am in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Burial with Military Honors will be held in RI Veteran’s Cemetery, Exeter. Visitation will be held on Monday August 11th from 5-7pm and Tuesday August 12th 10am to 11am.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to New England Donor Services, honoring Mark’s final gift of life through organ donation.
