Obituary

BELMONT ---- Peter Henri Yelle, age 84, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family.

A devoted husband, loving father and friend to many, Peter always looked for the best in people and worked to bring this out. He celebrated generosity and acceptance, and lived a full life guided by grace, humor and quiet strength.

Peter was born on June 23, 1941, at Sturdy Hospital in Attleboro, MA to Leo and Ruth Yelle. He grew up with five siblings—Leo, Shirley, Courtney, Paul and John—and developed early the character and work ethic that would define his life.

Peter began his career in Attleboro at Englehart, maintaining machines and electrical systems. In 1971, he moved his family to New Hampshire, where he built a respected reputation as an electrician and plumber throughout the Lakes Region. Later, Peter joined Laconia Electric in Inside Sales, where he formed lasting friendships across the community. His career continued with McDonald/Wadman and AA McPherson Company, where he traveled throughout Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine selling electrical supplies across Northern New England. He never arrived empty-handed—often bringing donuts or a treat—always ready to celebrate both friendship and business.

He was an active member of the Pittsfield Rotary Club, where he embodied the motto "Service Above Self." The camaraderie and purpose he found there sustained him, especially during his battle with leukemia and other illnesses.

Peter and his beloved wife, Theresa “Terri” Louise Yelle, were married for 63 years, having wed on December 2, 1961. Together, they raised six children. He was also a second father to Cyndi Yelle, Kevin’s widow. Peter was the proud grandfather of 15 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, each a cherished part of his legacy.

Peter never met a stranger, he made everyone feel welcome with a story, a joke, or a warm gesture. He was happiest when surrounded by his large, close-knit family. Whether hosting gatherings, chatting over coffee, or offering a helping hand, he lived a life of meaningful connection and quiet generosity.

He will be remembered for his wit, his sense of fairness and his unshakable devotion to family, friends and community. His impact will continue to ripple through the many lives he touched.
Peter is survived by his beloved wife Terri; his children, Peter Jr. (wife Carol), Robert (wife Kelly), Christine Landry, Martha Keene and Allison Buttafuoco (husband James); as well as many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son Kevin Yelle and his son-in-law Rich Keene, who he will now watch over us with from above.

All who knew Pete are encouraged to remember him with a smile and to make the most of their day—just as he would have wanted. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the many dedicated medical professionals who cared for him with compassion and skill. In accordance with his wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial service.

If you feel moved to honor Pete’s memory, please consider a donation to the caring team that helped Terri and Peter in his final hours: https://www.granitevna.org/donate/

His legacy of kindness, laughter and love will continue to inspire all who knew him.
