SALEM, MA.- Roger T. Poitras of Salem, 85, departed from this world on August 5, 2025, after bravely facing a series of difficult health challenges. He was the son of Theodore J. and Evelyn A. (Levesque) Poitras of Salem and the devoted husband of the late Marilyn T. (Lewis) Poitras, with whom he shared a beautiful journey filled with love and commitment.
Roger spent his formative years in the Castle Hill neighborhood, where he attended St. Anne's Grammar School before attending Salem High School. Following his education, he proudly served in the United States Air Force. Upon returning home, he embarked on a successful career at Solid State, where he rapidly advanced in his field. It was there he met the love of his life, and started his family.
He had a passion for all Boston sports, relished dining out, and loved embarking on casino adventures with his partner in crime, Marilyn. He cherished long road trips to reconnect with friends and family, enjoyed playing golf, and treasured moments spent with his grandchildren and close friends.
Roger is survived by his loving children, Wendy Poitras of Beverly, Bonnie Bertone and her husband David, Tammy Walsh and her husband Steven all of Salem, his brother Leo Poitras and companion Mary Ann Reardon of South Carolina. He also leaves behind five grandchildren, William Muse, Jr., Mathew Muse, Jessica Atwood, Janeen Atwood, Jared Bertone as well as many nieces and nephews: Dyan Iappicca, Alana, Lenee and Dana Theriault, Deborah Spencer, Michael and Kevin Lewis, Denise Altman and Patrick Poitras.
In addition to being family, Roger and Marilyn cherished the lasting and unconditional friendship they shared with Richard and Barbara Levesque, as well as their lifelong friend and cousin Albert Pit Michaud. Roger also formed meaningful connections with a wide circle of relatives and friends, including the Levesques, Leboeufs, and Barretts.
He is predeceased by his wife Marilyn Poitras, sister Ann Spencer, nephews Timothy Spencer, James and Donald Gallagher, Alan Theriault and niece Kimberly Carty.
Relatives and friends are invited to his visiting hours on Sunday, August 10, 2025 at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Route 114 / 1-A] Salem from 2:00 to 5:00 P.M. His funeral service, in the funeral home, will be on Monday August 11th at 11:00 A.M., followed by his burial in St. Mary Cemetery Salem.
