In Loving Memory of Steven Conneen
March 15, 1972 – July 28, 2025
Steven Conneen, 53, of Abington, MA, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2025, after a courageous and hard-fought 3.5-year battle with cancer. He was surrounded by the unwavering love of his wife, children, and family as he entered into eternal peace — just as he had lived, with strength, grace, and deep faith.
Born in Quincy, Steve was the beloved son of the late William and Helen (Collier) Conneen. He was a proud graduate of Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical High School, Class of 1990, where he first began shaping the strong work ethic and generous spirit that would define his life.
For the past several years, Steve was a dedicated member of the team at Economy Plumbing and Heating — a workplace he affectionately called his "second family." His coworkers became lifelong friends, and he approached his job with the same loyalty, humility, and kindness he gave to every aspect of his life.
More than anything, Steve loved his family and his faith — the twin pillars on which he built his life. His devotion to God was steadfast, and he was a proud and active member of Grace Church in Avon, where he worshipped faithfully for the past 16 years. There, he found deep friendships, spiritual strength, and a community that meant the world to him.
But Steve’s greatest joy and purpose came from his role as a husband and father. Together for 24 years, he shared a deep and abiding love with his wife, Susan M. (Cattaneo) Conneen — a bond that was filled with laughter, support, and unshakable devotion. Their love was a light that never dimmed, and it will live on forever in her heart.
Steve was the proud and loving father of Caitlyn Conneen of New Hampshire, and Benjamin, Abigail, John, and Grace Conneen of Abington, Ma — the five lights of his life. To his children, he was more than a dad — he was a role model, a safe place, a steady presence, and a constant source of love and wisdom. His faithful four-legged companion, Bailey, was always by his side and will be missing him dearly.
He is also survived by his brothers, Robert Conneen and his wife Jennifer of Calera, AL, and Michael Conneen and his wife Terri of Enfield, CT; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and lifelong friends.
To know Steve was to know compassion, quiet strength, humility, humor, and faith. He lived his life with purpose and heart — giving selflessly, loving deeply, and leaving everyone he met better for having known him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Grace Church, 101 Wales Avenue, Avon, MA 02322. Family and friends are invited to greet the family beginning at 10am. The service will follow at 11AM to remember the remarkable man Steve was.
Though he is no longer with us in body, Steve's legacy of love, faith, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
