Obituary

Richard “Dick” P. Brennan, 92, of Worcester died on Tuesday, August 5th at UMass Memorial Hospital – University Campus. He leaves his loving wife of 39 years, Eleanor J. (Benoit) Brennan; a son, Richard Brennan, Jr. of Sutton; a daughter, Diane Marie Strand and her husband, Paul of York Beach, ME; a stepdaughter, Donna Valis of Worcester; six grandchildren, Sean Brennan, Daniel Brennan, Zachary Strand, Michael Brennan, Jr., Andrea Harmon, and Paul Harmon and his wife Sarah; three step-grandchildren, Steven Windward and his wife, Sarah, James Valis and his wife, Laurie, and Lyndsay Strand; several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his son, Michael P. Brennan; and a stepson, John Valis.

He was born in Worcester, the son of William and Margaret (McShera) Brennan. Dick worked as a custodian at Holy Cross College for 10 years, where he was known for his strong work ethic, friendly nature, and warm smile. Prior to that, he proudly served as a truck driver for Noar’s Oil for 46 years, forming lasting friendships along his routes and earning the respect of colleagues and customers alike. A devoted community member, Dick was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, Alhambra Council, the Worcester Lodge of Elks, and a life member of the former Main South Post 341. His service and dedication to these organizations reflected his deep-rooted values of faith, camaraderie, and service to others. In his free time, Dick loved golfing and cherished the many rounds played with friends over the years. Whether on the green, at community events, or with his family, Dick's humor, generosity, and kind heart always shone through. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

His funeral services are private and at the convenience of the family. O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, is assisting the family with arrangements.
