Henry J. Vezina, 82, of Derry, NH, passed away Monday, August 4, 2025, in Elliot Hospital, Manchester, NH. He was born on December 4, 1942, in Lowell, MA, the son of Eugene and Alice (Lafond) Vezina.
His mother affectionately called him ‘tout-petit’ which translates to ‘my little one,’ and from this he became known as Pete.
After graduating with his GED at 18 years old, Pete enrolled in the Air Force where he worked in Air Training Command. Pete was Honorably Discharged after serving 8.5 years, where he continued to further his education in electronics and then became HVAC Certified in 2012. Pete retired in 2012, as a machinery mechanic from Sweetheart Plastics in Somerville, MA.
After retirement, he spent his free time creating projects around the house building and fixing the many yard tools or spending time organizing the garage where he spent most of his time.
His family will always remember his infectious laugh, which could be heard at many family events or watching his favorite tv shows. He will always be known as a strong-willed, caring, and kind-hearted person. Pete will be deeply missed by all.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra (Emerson) Vezina, four daughters, Cherie Nickles, Joanne Robichaud, Cathy Hanlon and Charlene Vezina; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; sister, Theresa Lord, as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Henry is predeceased by this sister, Joanne Lessard.
Following cremation, calling hours will be held on Monday, August 11, 2025, from 1:00pm to 2:30pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry, NH. A memorial service will follow in the funeral home at 2:30 pm.
