Rodrigo (“Roger”) M. Resendes, 97, of Westport, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 30, 2025. He was the husband of the late Eduarda M. (Patricio) Resendes, they shared 62 years of marriage.
Rodrigo was born in Sao Miguel, Azores, son of the late Manuel and Maria (Sardinha) Resendes and had resided in Westport for over 55 years. Prior to retirement, he worked in construction with J.F. White Contracting. He was a gifted stone mason, avid fisherman and winemaker, but his most treasured activity was sharing his faith in the Bible with his family and others. He was a member of Fall River and Tiverton Congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses for over 50 years.
Survivors include his son: Stephen Resendes and his wife Gretchen of Troy, NY; his 3 daughters: Gilda Rosetta and her husband Philip of Westerly, RI, MaryJean Walsh of Fall River, and Debra Findlay and her husband John of Westport; 8 grandchildren; many great grandchildren, and a large extended family.
He was predeceased by 2 sisters and 6 brothers.
Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial service to be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 100 N. Eastern Ave., Fall River, MA 02723. Calling hours at 1:30 with memorial talk to begin at 2:00 pm.
Interment is private.
