Obituary

Robert B. Durso passed away peacefully at Brigham & Women’s Hospital on August 4, 2025, after a short illness. The oldest son of Santo and Martha Durso, he is predeceased by his parents and his wife, Eileen.

He leaves behind his children, Margaret and Robert W., his grandchildren, Johnathan and Mitchell, his great-granddaughter, Ella Rae, and many nieces and nephews.

Bob was born and raised in Medford, MA, where he loved spending time with his neighborhood friends. He graduated from Medford High School, and after graduation he worked at various jobs until he enlisted in the Army. He met Eileen after completing his initial military service, at a civilian job in Cambridge, MA at the Eastern Company. They would go on to enjoy nearly 56 years of marriage together, eventually moving to Whitman, MA to raise their children.

Bob had many interests in life, chief among them spending time with Eileen, whether travelling to their favorite spots on Cape Cod and the Finger Lakes region or just relaxing together at home. He also loved to garden, cook, and collect stamps, and he followed all his favorite sports teams closely, especially football. His faith was important to him, and he was a devoted parishioner at the Holy Ghost Church in Whitman.

For all his interests and hobbies, Bob’s greatest joy was his family. He worked full time for the MA Army National Guard, and he was very proud to serve his community for many years. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
