WEBSTER - Edward J. “Ed” Jarmolowicz, 82, a lifelong resident, passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2025.
He leaves his longtime partner, Ellen Grady; his children, Edward Jarmolowicz and his wife Gina of Oceanside, CA, Scott Jarmolowicz and his wife Kathy of Amesbury, Sharon Jarmolowicz of Merrimac, Betsy Jarmolowicz of Chicopee, Amy Mahaney and her husband Mike of Belchertown, and Abby LaPan and her husband Tom of Greenfield; 7 grandchildren, Brett Fistes, Emily, Jessica and Elizabeth Jarmolowicz, and Jonathan, Daniel and Matthew Mahaney; 3 great-grandchildren, Blake and Teddy Fistes and Oliver Jarmolowicz.
He was born on November 3, 1942 in Webster, the son of Charles and Julia (Balli) Jarmolowicz.
At an early age, Ed worked with Webster’s Howie Falke learning to fix TV’s, putting up antennas and repairing radios. He then was a field engineer for Chapin Electronics, later Pinkerton Electro-Security Company. There he designed and repaired burglar alarms and traveled to multiple states as a trouble shooter for dealers. He also repaired TVs and radios in his home on a part-time basis. In 1980, he opened A & A TV Sales and Service on Myrtle Avenue and retired over 30 years later. He also was employed at Antique Radio Restoration in Connecticut.
He got his amateur radio license at age 10, receiving the call sign K1GDH. He enjoyed working with Morse code and talked to radio HAMS all around the world. He continued this hobby during his retirement. He was a member of several HAM radio clubs and organizations: QRP/ARCI, GQRP, ANTIQUE WIRELESS, FISTS, MICHIGAN QRP CLUB AND AARL, THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF HAM RADIOS.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 6, in Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM Wednesday in the funeral home, prior to the service. Donations in his name may be made to Care Central VNA and Hospice, 534 School Stret, Webster, MA 0l570.
