DUDLEY – J. Cecelia “Celia” (Kruzewski) Majka, 105, died Wednesday, July 30, 2025 in UMass/Memorial University Campus after a short illness. Her husband of 44 years, Felix F. Majka, died in 1989.
She leaves her beloved daughter, Judith A. Majka of Dudley; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Johanna, Katherine, Eva, and Theresa Kruzewski, Rose Rock, Irene Decelles and her husband Noe and Gertrude Patterson and her husband Walter, and by her brothers Adam, Joseph, Edward and his wife Florence, Chester and his wife Ethel, and Louis Kruzewski.
She was born in Dudley on January 6, 1920, a daughter of Marcel and Mary (Wilga) Kruzewski and was a lifelong resident.
Mrs. Majka was a full-time homemaker. She did part-time work in the cafeteria of the former Dudley Junior High School. She counted votes at Dudley town elections for many years.
She was a communicant of Saint Joseph Basilica in Webster and a member of its 1-25 Club. She was the oldest member of the Pope St. John Paul II Foundation.
She was an excellent seamstress and knitter and loved to cook and bake.
Her funeral will be held Monday, August 4, from the Sitkowski, Malboeuf & Hickey Funeral Home, 340 School Street, Webster, with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Saint Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street, Webster. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace. Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:30 AM Monday in the funeral home, prior to the Mass. Donations in her name may be made to either Saint Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street, or to Saint Joseph School, 47 Whitcomb Street, both in Webster, MA 01570.
