NEFF - Fritz "Fito", age 90 of Roslindale, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 26, 2025.
Fritz Neff, affectionately known as Fito, was born on November 5, 1934, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. During his time in Haiti, he became a well-known and beloved soccer player and coach with Aigle Noir, traveling to places like Guadalupe, Martinique, Puerto Rico, and Cap Haitien, just to name a few. He had a deep love for education that enriched his life and the lives of those around him. His passion for learning was a guiding force, always encouraging others to pursue their dreams and explore the world through knowledge. He also had a profound love of music.
In 1965, Fritz moved to the United States with his loving wife, Alourdes (Innocent) Neff, who sadly preceded him in death.
Fritz dedicated many years of his life to working with the Boy Scouts of America, proudly sharing the values and mission of the organization with his community. His commitment to service and mentorship continued as he worked as a social worker, extending his care and support to youth and families in need.
Fritz was also preceded in death by his parents, Antoine and Germaine Neff, and his siblings: Roosevelt Neff, George Neff, and Nicole Francois.
He leaves behind a beautiful legacy with his children: France A. Neff Walker and husband Chico Walker, Eric Neff, Magalie Neff, Shelah Neff, Natacha Atey, and Kofivi Syenhwe. Fritz was also a proud grandfather of 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his brothers, Jean and Robert Neff, his sister Margareth Philoctète, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and a large circle of family and friends who hold him in their hearts with deep love and respect.
Fritz’s spirit and passion for life will live on in all who knew him.
Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, August 9th at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church (formerly St. Angela's Parish) 1548 Blue Hill Ave., MATTAPAN at 9:00 am. Interment in Oak Lawn Cemetery, ROSLINDALE. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, August 8th at the Joseph Russo Funeral Home, 814 American Legion Hwy., ROSLINDALE from 5:00 - 8:00 pm, Masonic wake service to be announced.
