LACONIA --- Joyce Jean Joslyn, 93, died on Friday, July 25, 2025, at St. Francis Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Laconia, NH.
Joyce was born on February 2, 1932, in Laconia, NH. She was raised in Sanbornton, NH, and was the fifth of seven children born to Alice (Woodman) and Olin Joslyn.
She attended Plymouth State College and transferred to Boston University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in English and was a member of the Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority. After graduation, she loved working at a Girl Scout bicycling camp on Cape Cod before beginning her teaching career in Yarmouth, MA.
Joyce later returned to Boston University to earn a master’s degree in Counseling. She went on to serve as a principal in the Attleborough, MA school district and spent many fulfilling years as a school counselor at Saugus High School in Saugus, MA.
After retiring, Joyce returned to the Lakes Region with her sister Shirley. She enjoyed photography, golfing, reading, and shopping. She also had a deep fondness for her car, which proudly bore the personalized license plate "JOYS" for many years.
Joyce is survived by her sisters, Arlene Ilgenfritz and her husband Robert, and Shirley Anne Joslyn, all of Laconia, NH, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Alice Woodman Joslyn and Olin Avery Joslyn, her brother Everett (Lurana) Joslyn, Marion (Charles) Foster, Helen (Albert) Arsenault, and Phyllis (Ernest) Smith.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the Carriage House at Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH.
