Obituary

Robert J. Noonan Preskenis (Bob), 62, died unexpectedly at home in Bourne, MA on December 30, 2024. Bob was born into the home of John and Julia Noonan of Stoughton, a lively household as the ninth of ten children, where love and commitment to family were at the heart of everything. However, when his mother, Julia, was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's, Bob was only five. In a remarkable act of love and devotion, Bob was adopted by his eldest sister, Maureen F. Preskenis, and her husband, Richard J. Preskenis. He moved with them to Corning, lowa, where he became part of their close-knit family of seven.

Bob is survived by his siblings from his family of origin: Patricia Barbato of North Falmouth MA, John E. Noonan Ill of Falmouth MA and Julie Noonan Lawson of East Sandwich MA. He is also survived by his siblings from his adopted family: Karen M. Preskenis-Perrin, Richard J. Preskenis, Jr., Daniel J. Preskenis, and Catherine M. Preskenis, all of Ashland OR. Kyle and Kevin Woolcock will forever be a part of his journey, along with nieces, nephews, friends, colleagues, and extended family members.

After high school, Bob followed his adventurous spirit and sense of duty by enlisting in the US Coast Guard. His service deepened his connection to the sea, and it was on the waters of Cape Cod-where he spent countless hours on his Grady White-that he developed a lifelong love for exploring its untouched coves and islands. Guided by his Christian faith, Bob approached life with boundless energy and a generous heart. He was known for his love of political debates, his willingness to help others, and his infectious enthusiasm. Whether he was dancing, shooting baskets, or catching up with friends, Bob's warmth, humor, and passion left a lasting impression on all who knew him. A natural entrepreneur, Bob owned and operated Planned Insurance in 1988, an insurance company in Buzzards Bay for 10 years. His commitment to excellent service extended beyond his business—he was deeply passionate about helping others, founding Children's Outreach, in 1998, an organization that provided support for children in Jamaica.

A memorial service to celebrate Bob's life will be held on August 7th at 11:30 am at the Massachusetts National Cemetery at Joint Base Cape Cod. Bob's life was a testament to his resilience, faith, and love for others. His legacy of service, commitment, and deep human connection will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
