Obituary

Ronald P. Travers, 78

Dateline: Mansfield, MA

Ronald P. Travers, age 78, of Mansfield, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Friday, July 25, 2025 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. He was the beloved husband of Louise M. (Santucci) Travers, to whom he was wed for fifty-six years.

Born in Attleboro, MA on February 4, 1947, he was a loving son of the late John S. and Florida M. (Dion) Travers.

A Mansfield resident for most of his life, Ron was part of a large, well-known Mansfield family and grew up and was educated in town. During the time of the Vietnam War, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army and was honorably discharged from duty on November 29, 1968.

Known for his strong work ethics, Mr. Travers was a finish carpenter by trade and had been employed for thirty-nine years at Richard M. Davis Builders in Foxboro. His family always came first, and he worked very hard to support them.

Ron had a lifelong love for antiques. He was especially proud of his 1955 Chevrolet pickup truck and enjoyed collecting antique toys. Times spent on Cape Cod in Dennis with family was another special part of his life.

Ron will always be remembered as a talented furniture restorer and for his dry sense of humor. He was always happiest watching his grandchildren and great granddaughter play pickleball and his love for his fur grandbabies was unconditional. In recent years, Ron enjoyed the simple pleasure of spending time and relaxing, along with his wife Louise, at Fulton Pond in Mansfield. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his devoted children, Matthew Tetreault and his wife Rory of Virginia, Melissa McLaughlin and her husband Scott of Norton, Tricia Travers and her fiancé Christopher Austin of Mansfield, Amy Patrinos and her husband John of Mansfield, Jill Johnson and her husband Sye of Mansfield and Ronni Jean Travers of Norton. He was the much-loved uncle of the late Pauline (Titus) Westlund, with whom he had a special bond. He was the cherished grandfather of Jared, John, Eric, Nicole, Colin, Talon, Haralabos “Harry”, Ava, Bella and Penelope and great grandfather of Lillian. He was the dear brother of Donald Travers of Mansfield, Christine Renzi and her companion Kevin Hurley of Mansfield, Suzanne Earls and her companion Jay Rotherham of Attleboro, Carol Anagnos and her husband Paul of Norton, Linda Gartman and her husband Nelvyn of Mansfield, and the late Robert Travers and his late wife Estelle, William Travers, who is survived by his wife Barbara of North Attleboro, Doris Hancock and her late husband William, Judith Moreshead and her late husband Norman and Diane Brunelle and her late husband Robert. He is also survived by his many-many treasured nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, July 30th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 31st at 10:00 A.M in Saint Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt Street (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial, accompanied with military honors, will follow at Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Mansfield.
