Ray Mixon, 77, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Tift Regional Medical Center, in Tifton, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Sunday, July 27, 2025, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with the Rev. Dr. Lloyd Stembridge and the Rev. Jimmy Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at Brushy Creek Cemetery, in Irwin County, Georgia. The family will receive friends Saturday evening, from 6 PM until 8 PM, at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Mixon was born September 11, 1947, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late Elmira Paulk Mixon. Mr. Mixon was a self-employed Millwright and built Mills allover the country and abroad. He found great joy in working on his land, whether it was cleaning trees, operating his equipment, or simply keeping things neat and well kept. He took pride in maintaining his property and could often be found on his tractor, doing what he loved most. He also deeply loved his cows and dogs, and enjoyed bird hunting and traveling when he had the chance. Above all, he deeply loved his wife, children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Connie Jinright Mixon of Fitzgerald; 2 children: Stacy Mixon and Cristi Bennett; grandchildren: Cody & Chelsey Mixon, Cole Mixon, Will Mixon, and Caralee Bennett; great grandchildren: Cohen Mixon and Josie Ann Mixon; a niece, Jolie Mixon, and Dwight Thompson, who not only worked for him, but stood by him like family through the years. The family would like to extend special thanks to his devoted care taker, Vann Joseph. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Mixon.
