Makrouhi (Bozaian) Terzian, of Potomac, Maryland, formerly of Lexington, Massachusetts, passed away on July 20, 2025. Beloved wife of the late Carney Terzian. Devoted mother of Mary Terzian and Arpi Terzian, and cherished mother-in-law of Igor Tchekan. Loving grandmother to Alexei Tchekan. Dear sister of the late Berj Bozaian. She is also survived by four nieces, one nephew, their families, and wonderful cousins whom she adored.
Born on December 5, 1933, in Milford, Massachusetts, to Krikor and Siranoush (Aghajanian) Bozaian, Makrouhi—known to many as Marnie—was a graduate of the School of Fashion Design in Boston. A lifelong learner and creative spirit, she pursued many of her passion projects over the years: designing sweaters featured in Seventeen magazine, dancing at the 1964 New York World's Fair, authoring a book on fashion, her memoir, and several collections of poetry.
Her talents extended to singing with the Komitas Choral Society of Boston, curating Armenian cultural exhibits at Boston-area museums, mentoring young women designing their own prom dresses, and crafting handmade Armenian dolls and decorations for the annual bazaar at St. Stephen’s Armenian Church in Watertown.
Deeply committed to her heritage and community, Marnie dedicated much of her life to philanthropic service through the Armenian Relief Society (ARS), where she held several leadership roles. She warmly welcomed newcomers to the Boston Armenian community and raised funds for organizations addressing humanitarian, social, and educational needs of Armenians and non-Armenians alike.
Marnie will be remembered for her fierce loyalty, pride and love for her family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at Saint Stephen’s Armenian Apostolic Church, 38 Elton Avenue, Watertown, on Monday, July 28 at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment will follow at Vernon Grove Cemetery, Milford, MA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Saint Stephen’s Armenian Church.
