Genevieve C. Krokov, 99, of Chicopee, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on July 10th, 2025. Genevieve was a woman of remarkable style, wit, and devotion, her life was defined by love for her family, pride in her work, and a personality as vibrant as the flowers she so lovingly tended.
Born in 1925, Genevieve, daughter of the late Michael and Stefania (Bozak) Trela and was the beloved wife of the late Edmund “Big Ed” Krokov. Together, they co-founded KROVAL Jigbore, a successful precision manufacturing company that partnered with major firms such as Pratt & Whitney, Hamilton Standard, and Sikorsky Helicopter, where Genevieve not only managed the bookkeeping but was deeply involved in its day-to-day operations. She brought a sharp mind and loyal spirit to the business they built side by side.
Genevieve had a gift of gab and could strike up a conversation with anyone. She made friends everywhere she went and had a talent for turning everyday interactions into joyful connections. Whether catching up with neighbors, chatting in checkout lines, or telling family stories, Genevieve’s voice and laughter were always welcome.
She was known for her love of shopping and rarely left a store empty-handed. She delighted in her exciting finds, sharing meals, and taking care of her grandchildren.
A phenomenal cook and baker, Genevieve’s kitchen was the heart of the home. Her recipes brought comfort and her desserts were legendary. She also loved gardening, nurturing flowers and vegetables with the same care she gave to her family.
Genevieve was predeceased by her husband Edmund, her daughter Karen Stopa of Chicopee, brother, Edward Trela and his wife Josephine of Chicopee, sister, Helen Piubeni and her husband Charlie Piubeni of Springfield. She is survived by her sister Eleanor Pelligrino of Springfield, her children: Linda Craven and her husband James Craven of Plympton, Leslie Krokov and his wife Rhoda Krokov of West Springfield, and Valerie Krokov of Longmeadow.
She was the proud grandmother of Eric Craven, Daryll (Craven) Sverrisson, Lisa (Stopa) Sebastyn , Michael Stopa, Christine Krokov, Matthew Krokov, Ciara (Krokov) Dumont-Reynolds, Savannah Baran; great-grandmother to David St. Russell, Courtney Craven, Dean Craven, Vinnie Guiel, Jack Sebastyn, Scarlett Sebastyn, Alex Sverrisson, Evalyn Sverrisson, Ryan Krokov, Avery Krokov, Nick Krokov, Austin Dumont, Michael Stopa Jr.; great-great grandmother to Braxton and Barrett Guiel.
Genevieve’s spirit lives on in every garden bloom, every shared recipe, and every moment of laughter among those she loved. She was the heart of her family, the soul of every gathering, and a woman whose legacy and light will shine on for generations.
A private family service will be held in her honor.
