WEBSTER – Maria (Gajda) Tittle, 99, died Saturday, July 12, 2025 in Southbridge Rehab & Healthcare Center in Southbridge after a period of declining health. Her husband of 9 years, Billy A.Tittle died in 2018.
She leaves her step-children, Brenda Martin and her husband Larry of Cincinnati, OH, Deborah Makowski (Inman) of Webster, MA, Paula Gaudet and her husband Ron of Old Lyme, CT, David Tittle and his wife Susan of Charlton, MA, Brian Tittle and his partner Cindi Groh of Oxford, MA, and Jane Tittle of Dudley.
She was born on January 24, 1926 in Grzegorzowka, Poland, a daughter of Wojciej and Aniela Gazda and was raised there. During World War II, she endured 4 years of forced labor in a camp in Germany. She moved to England in 1948 and settled in Worcester in 1951. She lived in Leicester for 27 years before moving to Webster.
Mrs. Tittle worked as a presser at the New England Manufacturing Company in Worcester for 17 years and then as a machine operator at Reed & Prince Company, also in Worcester, for 12 years.
She was a housekeeper at State Mutual Insurance for 4 years before retiring in 1989.
She was a former member of Holy Trinity National Catholic Church. She also belonged to the PAV Auxiliary in Worcester when she resided there.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 28 at noon in New Notre Dame Cemetery, North Woodstock Road, Southbridge with the Reverend Charles Monroe officiating. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction Sitkowski, Malboeuf & Hickey Funeral Home, 340 School Street.
