Michael C. O’Connor, 83, of East Bridgewater, MA, formerly of Rockland, MA, passed away on July 19, 2025 surrounded by family at South Shore Hospital after a short illness.
Michael was a graduate of Rockland High School and Bridgewater State University and spent 38 years teaching mathematics in Rockland, Plymouth, and Carver before retiring in 2001. He also worked part-time in a landscaping business for many years.
His greatest joy was spending time with his family and being a supporter of his granddaughters’ volleyball, softball, and marching band activities. He loved playing golf and spending time with his wife in Florida and cruising together. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan, and couldn’t pass up a words with friend’s challenge. He kept brain sharp with Sudoku and Kakuro.
Michael is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Sandra (Zacchini); daughter, Terri O’Connor and her husband Noel Keen; daughter, Lynn (O’Connor) Berman; granddaughters, Lily and Violet Berman; grandson, Lucca Keen and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Marguerite (Easton) Casey and Lawrence O’Connor, and his three sisters Lucille (O’Connor) Cullinan, Meredith (O’Connor) Anctil and Linda (O’Connor) St. Pierre.
He will be missed by all who knew him, taught with him, and enjoyed him as a teacher.
There will be a celebration of Michael’s life on July 27th at 4:00 pm at Meadow Brook Restaurant in Hanson. The burial will be private.
