BALDWIN- George Elmer Davis II, age 69, passed away on July 19, 2025, at his home after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Westbrook, Maine on November 19, 1955, a son of the Gerald (late) and Evelyn Davis. After graduating from Sacopee Valley High School, George attended the University of Maine studying forestry.
He was married to the love of his life Carol for a lovely but all too brief 28 years.
George worked for his father’s trucking company Gerald E. Davis and Sons Incorporated.
Then for several other companies and was the road commissioner of the town of Brownfield, Maine.
George enjoyed nature and maintaining his forest. But most of all he enjoyed seeing as much of the country he could from his motorcycles.
He was a member of the Greenleaf, Adoniram and Mt Moriah Masonic Lodges and proud member of the Widows Sons Motorcycle club.
He was predeceased by his brother Gerald (Ged) Davis who passed away in 1990, his father
who passed away in 2014, as well as his wife Carol (Gresley) Davis who passed away in 2007.
George is survived by his mother Evelyn Davis; sister Eleanor Jean Richardson and sister Elizabeth Joan Fox; his children Bethany Gilpatric and her husband Aaron of Gray and Jenna Davis and her fiancé Sean Butler and her children Frankie Davis, Melody and Aiden McNiven. He also leaves behind his wife’s brother Melvin Gresley, her sisters with Elinor Gail McIntire and Marie Dooley, numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews, and a great deal of beloved friends who were also like family to him.
A funeral service will be held on Friday August 1st at 6 PM at the Poitras, Neal & York Funeral Home, 71 Maple Street, Cornish. Online condolence messages can be submitted at www.mainefuneral.com.
