It is with deep sorrow and loving remembrance we announce the passing of Dr. Suhil Kaiser Zahka of Burlington, MA who died peacefully on July 17, 2025 surrounded by his family at the age of 93.
Suhil was a dear and devoted husband of Gloria Kallam Zahka for 58 years. Beloved father of pharmacist Fareed Zahka and his wife Engineer Dolly Tomeh of Burlington, MA; Dr. Karym Zahka and his wife Dr. Chaza Khalil of Franklin Lakes, NJ; Dr. Nabil Zahka and his wife pharmacist Nisrine Awad of Lexington, MA.
Dear grandfather of Souhil, Sarah, George, Michael, Joseph, and Mary Zahka.
Loving brother of the late Salim, Wadih, Edmond, George Zahka, Mary Zahka Moukhachen, and Hilda Zahka Maassab.
Dear brother-in-law of Gladys Kallam Diab, Michel Kallam and the late Toufic Kallam, and Lodi Kallam Massoud. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Suhil was born in Damascus Syria on December 3, 1931 to the late Kaiser and Salwa Massab Zahka. Dr. Zahka earned his medical degree from Damascus University and went on to practice internal medicine for over 40 years. His patients often spoke of his calm presence, deep listening and the way he treated each person - not just a patient but as a human being.
Throughout his professional life Dr. Zahka held senior medical positions at several prominent domestic and international cooperations. He exemplified kindness, integrity and generosity. He leaves behind a legacy of love and service that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Visitation at the P.E. Murray-F.J. Higgins, George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 2000 Centre Street, West Roxbury on Friday, July 25, from 5-8pm.
Funeral service will be held in St. George Orthodox Church, 55 Emmonsdale Road, West Roxbury on Saturday, July 26, at 11am. Relatives and friends kindly invited and asked to please go directly to church on Saturday morning.
Interment following the funeral service in The Gardens at Gethsemane Cemetery, 670 Baker St. West Roxbury. Following the cemetery family and friends are invited to a Mercy Meal at Byblos Restaurant, 678 Washington St. Norwood.
