Janice Jynette Almand, 87, of Cordele passed away Friday, July 18, 2025, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. A memorial service will be held for Mrs. Almand on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Arabi Baptist Church.
Born May 25, 1938, in Sale City, Mrs. Almand was the daughter of the late Andrew Jackson Hart, Sr. and Minnie Mae Boatwright. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, James Andrew Almand, who passed away in 1999; two brothers, Paul Hart and Andrew Jackson Hart, Jr.; and five sisters, Elanor “Bug” Harris, Pauline Hart, Ruth Stinson, Mae Williams and Teva “Sissy” Poitevint.
Mrs. Almand enjoyed working in her flower garden and cooking. She loved going to the beach and Lake Blackshear. Before retiring, she was a bookkeeper for the Tifton Gazette, as well as being a hairdresser and a caregiver.
Mrs. Almand is survived by her husband, Jay Wayne Almand of Cordele; two daughters and one son-in-law, Nancy Belcastro of Cordele and Teresa and Paul Mulholland of Jacksonville, Florida; three grandchildren and their spouses, Jacob and Cherish Mulholland, Kristie and Rocky Hilton, and Anna Belcastro; six great-grandchildren, River, Beau, and Cole Mulholland, and Jaime, Kiley, and Gavin Hilton; and one great-great granddaughter, Willow.
