Obituary

CHICOPEE – Dennis Gonzalez, 63, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Home on Thursday, July 10, 2025. He was born in Springfield on June 9, 1962 a beloved son of the late Domingo and Teresa (Cotto) Gonzalez. He was raised in Springfield and graduated from the High School of Commerce where he played football for the All-State Championship Team. He continued his education attending Holyoke Community College and ultimately achieved his Recovery Coach Certification. He worked at the Gandara Center for the past 10 years at the Hope for Holyoke Recovery Center and as a Recovery Coach in various settings and for the last several years as the Recovery Coach Supervisor in the local hospitals. He was a faithful member of LifePoint Church in Chicopee where he sang in the choir and was a leader in the Celebrate Recovery Ministry for many years. Dennis loved gardening, was an avid fisherman, and a die-hard Boston Celtics fan. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren, family and many friends. He leaves his beloved wife, Debra J. Flynn-Gonzalez. They were blessed with 40 years of happiness together. He will be missed by his three loving children, Jessica A. Gonzalez, Kayla N. Gonzalez, and Dennis J. Gonzalez and his wife, Brooke, all of Chicopee; his four cherished grandchildren, Alexis Edwards, Jasmine Marin, Alexander Gonzalez, and Isabella Gonzalez; his two dear sisters, Mildred Otero and her husband, Pedro, of Springfield, and Nilsa Gonzalez of Holyoke; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Richard and Frances (Lafreniere) Flynn, of East Longmeadow; his sister-in-law, Donna Ollari of Enfield, CT; his brother-in-law, Richard Flynn of East Longmeadow; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended family members. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his older brother, Domingo Gonzalez, Jr.; and his brother-in-law, Mark Ollari. Dennis was a champion for recovery whose impact will be remembered by those he worked with and the many people he helped through the years. Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, July 25, 2025 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 12 p.m. at LifePoint Church, 603 New Ludlow Road, Chicopee, MA 01020.
