LACONIA ---- Ronald ‘Ron’ S. Johnston, 82, of Laconia, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Monday, July 14, 2025, at the New Hampshire Veterans Home in Tilton.
Ron was born and raised in Malden, MA, and moved to New Hampshire in 1985. He was the son of Charles and Julia (Haddad) Johnston.
A proud U.S. Army veteran, Ron served his country with honor, including a year-long tour in Vietnam. His service was a great source of pride and a reflection of his lifelong dedication to hard work, perseverance, and loyalty.
Ron had a larger-than-life personality and never met a stranger. Whether you crossed his path through work, business, or simply by chance, he had a way of making everyone feel like a friend. He was a devoted husband, a proud father, and above all, a loving "Grampy" - his favorite title - to his granddaughters, who were truly the light of his life.
Ron is survived by his beloved wife, Ruth; his son Charles Johnston and his wife Stacey; his daughter Lisa DuBois and her husband Michael; and his cherished granddaughters, Alyssa and Anna Pepin.
Per his wishes, there will be no calling hours.
