Barbara A. (Tamason) Alcione, age 87, a resident of Winchester for over 50 years, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2025.
Born in Athol, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Anna (Krustapentus) Tamason. She was raised and educated in Athol and was a graduate of Athol High School. After high school, she and her best friend moved to Boston’s Back Bay area, and, like many of the young women during that time, worked for the telephone company.
Barbara relocated to Winchester, where she raised her family and enjoyed the beautiful community and everything it had to offer. In later years, she worked as a secretary and, in her spare time, enjoyed cooking, listening to Frank Sinatra and doing crossword puzzles. A dog-lover, Barbara owned several dogs over the years, including her Maltese “Munchkin” for over 16 years.
Barbara is lovingly survived by her three sons: Jon Alcione and his wife Lisa of Framingham, Andrew Alcione of Winchester and Michael Alcione and his wife Becky of North Carolina. She was the dear sister of Andrea Abbey of Orange, MA, Anthony Tamason, Jr. and his wife Candy of Royalston, Kathy McQuirk and her husband Keith of Orange, and Karen Palulous of Hinsdale, NH, and is further survived by several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Visitation will be held at the Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester, on Saturday, July 26, from 1-3PM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial is private.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara’s memory may be made to the MSPCA at Northeast Animal Shelter, 347 Highland Ave., Salem, MA 01970 https://www.mspca.org.
