Obituary

Anthony V. Taurasi, Jr. of Dedham passed away on July 10, 2025, at the age of 87.

Son of the late Margaret and Anthony V. Taurasi of Medford, Tony was the husband of Patricia Taurasi, and proud father of Elizabeth M.T. Hughes and her husband Craig of Wilmington and Anthony V. Taurasi, III of Roslindale. He was the beloved “Papa T” to his grandsons, Anthony V. Taurasi, IV of Roslindale and Cameron L. Hughes of Wilmington. He was predeceased by his brother, Michael C. Taurasi.

A lifelong Red Sox fan, Tony rarely missed a game. In his younger days, he made annual trips to Winter Haven for spring training and cherished every visit to Fenway Park, though he was just as content cheering on the Sox from home.

Tony spent several years working in the liquor industry and could often be found behind the counter at the family liquor stores, where he enjoyed chatting with customers and staying connected to the community.

He was deeply committed to public service and civic life in Dedham. He served for many years on the town’s Board of Selectmen and was the co-founder of Dedham’s Mini Town Meeting, helping shape the community he loved.

For more than 35 years, he co-hosted Dedham’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Roast — never happier than when donning his signature green jacket and emceeing with humor and heart.

He also served as president of the Dedham Rotary Club and of the Society in Dedham for the Apprehension of Horse Thieves. Tony was a proud member of the Italian American Citizens Club – San Giovanni Battista.

Tony’s deep love for his family, community and traditions will be remembered with warmth and gratitude by all who knew him.
