Obituary

CHICOPEE – David E. Doyle, 83, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, July 5, 2025. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Springfield on December 21, 1941, a beloved son of the late Edward J. and Aline B. (Amnotte) Doyle. He was raised in the Aldenville section of Chicopee, graduated from Chicopee High School, and moved to Fairview in 1966 where he lived the remainder of his life. He furthered his education and received an Associate’s Degree from Springfield Technical Community College. David served his country in the Air National Guard. He was a technician for New England Telephone, now Verizon, and retired in 1997. During his leisure time, David enjoyed working on electronics and satellite communications. He was known to many as “Mr. Fix-It Man.” Dave had a great affection for cats and often participated in rescue efforts. He also loved spending time in his favorite chair reading the paper with his faithful feline companions by his side. Most of all, he cherished his family and his many friends. He was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. He leaves his beloved wife and soul mate, Leona R. (Roy) Doyle. They were married on October 8, 1966 at Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee and they were blessed with over 58 years of happiness together. He also leaves his dear sister, Marilyn R. (Doyle) Bouvier of East Longmeadow; his cherished twin nieces, Mary French and her husband, Daniel and Aline Billings and her husband, William, all of Springfield; his cherished grandnieces and grandnephew, Danielle French and Dereck and Erica Rogers; and his extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his dear brother, Richard J. “Twig Painter” Doyle who was Called Home on September 23, 2015 and his dear brother-in-law, Kevin C. Bouvier. His relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday morning, July 18, 2025 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will follow the visiting hours at 11 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 594 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
