UTTERO, Cosmo R. Age 101, WWII Veteran formerly of Wellesley, MA. passed away at his home in Bradenton, FL on Thursday July 10, 2025 with his daughter Elizabeth by his side. Born in Wellesley, MA on December 24, 1923 to the late Salvatore Uttero and Annie (Dischino) Uttero. Cosmo is survived by his 8 children. Linda R.Uttero of Winthrop, MA. Mary Carlson of Holden, MA, Robert J. Uttero of Merrimack, NH, Elizabeth M. Casey of Bradenton, FL, Margaret Cline of Douglas, MA, Peter J. Uttero of Clarksville, GA, John Uttero of Lakewood Ranch, FL, and Ann Uttero of Natick, MA. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandson.
Cosmo served during WWII with the U.S. Army 29th Division landing on Omaha Beach Normandy D-Day June 6th 1944. He was awarded 2 Bronze Stars,The French Legion Medal, and numerous other medals and commendations for his service.
After the war ended Cosmo met his future wife Erika in Germany. Cosmo and Erika were married at St. Paul's Church, Wellesley in 1948. Sadly Erika passed away after 50 wonderful years of marriage. She was the love of his life.
He retired from The A.B. Dick Company in 1987 and enjoyed his final years in Bradenton, FL.
He was loved by so many and will be missed dearly. May God grant him eternal rest.
Visiting hours will be held at The George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home 477 Washington St, (Rt.16) Wellesley on Friday morning July 18 from 9:00-10:30am. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00am at St. Paul's Church, 502 Washington St, Wellesley. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Cosmo will be laid to rest at St. Mary's Cemetery, Needham alongside his wife Erika with Full Military Honors.
In lieu of flowers a donation may be made in memory of Cosmo to a Veterans organization of choice.
